How to start each Eikon Excel spreadsheet in separate incidence from batch ?

We have been using the following command line to start up each Excel.

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Thomson Reuters\Eikon\Eikon.exe" -officeexcel -a "D:\filename"

Since Eikon upgrade to 4.53, all spreadsheet uses the same Excel incidence (same parent Excel task in Task Manager, with each spreadsheet as child)

The switch “-a”, is that to load the add-in? Is there documentation on how to use the switch thru Eikon? What we have noticed is that when the multiple sheets are started, they are started up in the same Excel instance and because of this only the sheet that is in focus send the update to our back end database. How do we get Eikon Excel to startup up the different sheets in separate instance. We have tried to use the switch “-x” but that does not work.

Upon investigation it transpired that Microsoft do not support the workflow of opening each file in a new instance of Excel. As a workaround a VBS script has been provided that offers the capability to open each file in a new instance of Excel. However, this solution is not fully robust. For this reason it won't be implemented in the product.

This needs to be investigated by Refinitiv support. I opened a support case on your behalf with Refinitiv Helpdesk. The Helpdesk will reach out to you with the results of their investigation or if they have any questions. For your reference the case number is 10007304.
