R connection problem, private network situation, what port to use, what does IT need to open?

You need to open port 9000: - please find test code below including the set_proxy_port function (must include the L at the end eg 9000L). This should work. Let me know how you get on. This is for windows operating system - if you are using the standalone mac proxy use port 36036.
